After rodeo star John Scott (John Wayne) wins his event and picks up his prize money, the rodeo official is killed and all the money is taken. Wrongfully accused of the crime, Scott and his partner Kansas Charlie (Eddy Chandler) track the real culprits to Poker City. Before Scott and Charlie can notify the local sheriff of the criminal's deeds, they are turned in by the criminals and thrown in jail themselves.
